Some Handy Notes about Travelling in Fiji

#1 Highly recommended to check the weather before going - March is the super rainy season (the time I went...) , recommended late October to early November - weather is nice and not in the peak season (as the hotels could be super expensive)

#2 Can book the hotels a week before departure - hotels could be 20%~40% cheaper. Some cheaper apartments in the city or along the Queens Road (Island south) could be fully booked though. Hotels are not as expensive as expected (compared with the high transportation cost)

#3 Visiting Fiji is a combination of:

1. Island hopping
2. Port Denarau Day Tours operated by hotels
3. Southern Island  along Queens Road - including Sigatoka Sand Dunes and Whitewater Navua River Rafting
4. Suva Town Centre and Colo-I-Suva Forest Park (4hrs drive from Nadi)

The main things to do in Fiji is simply stay at your resorts for at least 2 days each, enjoy the beach and free non-motorized water-sports offered by your hotel.

#4 It is important to be noted that every credit card transaction in Fiji cost an extra 3%. Bring more cash.

#5 If you would like to tour around the island, it is recommended to rent your own car, especially the road trip along the southern island Queens Road to Suva City.

Boat Transfer
It is a short 25minutes taxi trip ~FJD30 from Nadi Airport to the main Port Denarau. 

There are 3 transfer route depending on which island you are heading to. Can only recommend if you are travelling in a nice weather week, could travel up to the Yasawas as they are more remote thence more local and quiet in natural serenity.

 

Mamanucas Route 1/3:

• South Sea Island - 30 mins
• Treasure Island  - 45 mins
• Mana Island  - 1 hour 25 mins
• Malolo Island Resort - 2 hours

 Mamanucas Route 2/5:

• Tokoriki Island  - 1 hour 
• Matamanoa Island  - 1 hour 25 mins

Regarding to the cancellation policy, 100% refund 48 hours before your booking date and bad weather, which the trip will be moved to the next day. If you cannot make it on the next day you, the company will refund 100%.

#2 If you are arriving with an early flight, they only accept flights that you could make the 0650 transfer pick up to catch the  0900 boat transfer.
